![]() He experiences the Black Mesa incident while in an elevator, and fights his way to try and find Dr Rosenberg, a scientist who can help get them out of Black Mesa. You visit many areas Gordon Freeman has already been past, like the Dam, Lambda Core, and part of the Sector C train line.īlue Shift puts you in the shoes of Barney Calhoun, a security guard at Black Mesa. There is a bunch of new weapons too, including the Barnacle Gun, Spore Launcher, Displacer Cannon, and Desert Eagle. Scientists, Guards and other Marines are your allies now. The Black Ops are a bigger threat now, too. There is a new race of aliens in OpFor, Race X, alongside the Xen creatures you're used to. Your helicopter crashes on your way to Black Mesa. But, it's still definitely worth picking up. It has a tendency to be a bit confusing and feel a bit off at times. I thought the level design was sub-par and I felt like the enemies were oddly placed. They were both released by Gearbox in 1999 for Opposing Force and 2001 for Blue Shift. Both of them are worth it if you loved the original.
